Collaborative knowledge: Where the distributed and commitment models merge

چکیده
Abstract Within analytic philosophy, the existence of collective knowledge has been motivated by means two apparently distinct, and in direct competition with one another, theoretical approaches: (i) commitment model (ii) distributed model. This paper agues, however, that to fully account for collaborative —i.e., a special kind knowledge—both models are required. In other words, there is at least knowledge, which requires treating not as competitors but complementary each other. If that’s correct, only can we gain deeper understanding specifics surrounding also clearer picture broader debate knowledge.

متن کاملDistributed Cognition: Where the Cognitive and the Social Merge
Among the many contested boundaries in science studies is that between the cognitive and the social. Here, we are concerned to question this boundary from a perspective within the cognitive sciences based on the notion of distributed cognition. We first present two of many contemporary sources of the notion of distributed cognition, one from the study of artificial neural networks and one from ...
متن کاملDISTRIBUTED AND COLLABORATIVE FUZZY MODELING
In this study, we introduce and study a concept of distributed fuzzymodeling. Fuzzy modeling encountered so far is predominantly of a centralizednature by being focused on the use of a single data set. In contrast to this style ofmodeling, the proposed paradigm of distributed and collaborative modeling isconcerned with distributed models which are constructed in a highly collaborativefashion. I...
متن کاملCollaborative Merge in Distributed Software Development: Who Should Participate?
Merge conflicts, which are rather common throughout the process of software development, are more frequent and complex to resolve when using the distributed software development approach, where developers are geographically dispersed. Normally, in the case of workspace merge, the last developer to merge code is responsible of conciliating the changes made in parallel and resolving conflicts. Ho...
